I’ve already spoken about quite a few Don products on the website but they have some new Kabana snack packs available at both Coles and Woolworths. They may also be available at independents but I haven’t seen them yet. These snack packs are available in three different types, all with Kabana. There is avocado & kabana, hommus & kabana and kabana & cheese. These will set you back $4 and can be found in the general dip area. These are made in Australia and are really handy for putting in your lunchbox or bag. Mum and I first had them as part of a picnic when I had to take her to an appointment.
Let’s start with the Kabana and Avocado which is labelled dairy free as well as gluten free on the front. It’s also 7g of protein per serve. These contain soy and egg for major allergens. Additionally, there is a may contain for fish, sesame, and tree nuts. Other ingredients include tapioca, maize, vegetable gum, lime, garlic, and mustard. I’ve already spoken about the Kabana Minis before, these are no different. A nice bit of spice but nothing hot or spicy. The avocado dip is smooth and creamy with a nice bit of flavour. The most important part is that there is enough dip for all the kabana – if anything there is maybe a little too much dip.
Alright onto the Kabana and Hommus and the cheese because they will have very similar ingredients. Starting with the Hommus; this contains soy and sesame and may contain egg, fish, lupin and tree nuts. Other ingredients include tapioca derivatives, maize derivatives, garlic, and chickpeas. The cheese and kabana pack contains milk and soy, with no may contain. Other ingredients include tapioca, maize, and garlic. Both of these again are just lovely little snacks. The hommus us thicker than the avocado dip so you get the perfect amount for the kabana. Furthermore, there are enough cheese pieces to match my bites of the kabana. If I am every craving a little treat these will do nicely.
Finally, we have a little bonus review of the final variety of the Don Ready to Eat Minis. This is the Spicy Kabana variety. I’ve previously spoken about the mild and the chorizo minis. For major allergens, these contain soy. Ingredients include pork, water, salt, tapioca starch, chilli, spices, emulsifiers, garlic, maize, sugar, sodium nitrate, edible casing and colour 160. They have a nice bit of heat behind them and are very moreish. Definitely a winner for me.
