Woolworths Free From Chicken Schnitzels

Woolworths are pumping their home brand for gluten free with the release of the Free From Chicken Schnitzels. Now available in the meat section of the store, you can pick up a pack of 4 for $9. That puts them at $2.25 each. At this price, they are the most expensive of the chilled chicken schnitzels. The canon foods ones are $7.50 for four as are the Ingham ones. Then you have the Berg Aldi ones which are 2.99 for 2. I do hope that the price comes down for these as it seems Woolworths may be removing the Inghams brand in favour of their own. Enough about that though, these are made in Australia. Additionally, they are thawed from frozen so are not recommended for home freezing.

Let’s get straight into the allergens. For majors these contain soybeans. There is also a may contain statement for milk, egg and sesame seeds. Other ingredients include rice derivatives, maize derivatives, canola oil, mineral salt, guar gum, and pea protein. These are a formed schnitzel so not just a crumbed chicken breast. You will need to cook them prior to consumption as they are not ready to eat. The back pack has air fryer and oven bake instructions. These are quick thick schnitzels, with a decent coating. These do get nicely crispy and are quick and easy in the air fryer. The chicken itself is quite typical of a schnitzel with the formed texture and juicy chicken flavour. Since they are so typical, there isn’t too much to say. I don’t think these are any better nor worse than the ones currently out there.

Woolworths Free From Chicken Schnitzel

That’s it for the Woolworths Free From Chicken Schnitzels. At this time I won’t be grabbing them again as they are the most expensive on the block. If Woolworths bring the price down to meet the others on the market then I’ll probably grab them because I do shop at Woolies more often.
